Implementation – Theory and application in health care PhD course on Implementation Science from Linköping University
The implementation research program at Linköping University offers a highly acclaimed annual course at the postgraduate level that has been given yearly since 2011. Teachers in the course are both from Linköping University and other universities. The course has garnered highly favorable course assessments and attracts PhD students from across Sweden as well as participants from the neighboring Nordic countries.
This PhD-level course provides a broad introduction to the development of implementation science and the research conducted in this field. The aim is to increase understanding of the challenges of implementation in healthcare and convey in-depth knowledge concerning theories, models and frameworks that are of practical use in the participants’ own implementation studies.
The course is taught in English. Work is conducted on half-time basis and course participants meet in Linköping on three occasions for lectures and group discussions. Course materials are studied in between these meetings.
Knowledge into Action Professional Development course offered by University of Oxford
Knowledge into Action is a professional development course offered by the Department of Continuing Education at the University of Oxford. This course is part of the MSc in Evidence-Based Health Care, the Postgraduate Diploma in Health Research and the Postgraduate Certificate in Health Research. The course is also available as an accredited short course in Health Sciences. The course is held over 8 weeks, with one week spent in Oxford for the face to face teaching week. The aim of this course is to introduce implementation science and related interdisciplinary perspectives on the links between research evidence, practice and policy.
Practicing Knowledge Translation (PKT)
PKT was a five-day in-person workshop in 2020 with webinars pre- and post-workshop that focuses on applying KT science to inform implementation. The course is designed for professionals implementing changes and focuses on how to apply KT to real-world implementation projects.
Training Institute for Dissemination and Implementation Research in Cancer (TIDIRC)
TIDIRC OpenAccess: The modules can be viewed together as a whole or individually by section. In the facilitated course, trainees move through the online modules after establishing a D&I research project idea. Each module consists of viewing videos, completing readings, and responding to assignment questions to build up their project idea. Trainees then workshop their proposed projects by incorporating knowledge gained from each of the online sections.

This course was designed to teach the unique skill set that surrounds KT practice. The course is equally suited to KT professionals, clinicians, clinician-scientists, educators and decision makers. Penn Implementation Science Institute (June 7–10, 2021)
Implementation science has emerged as a discipline to bridge the research-to-practice gap. Implementation research is the scientific study of methods to improve the adoption, implementation, and sustainment of evidence-based practices in health services settings.
The purpose of the Implementation Science Institute is to provide participants with the tools to design and execute rigorous implementation science research. The Institute will give an introduction to the foundations of implementation science (i.e., terminology, conceptual models and frameworks, study design). Students will also receive an overview of advanced topics including implementation strategies and sustainability. The course directors will cover tips for grant writing, skill development and time will be spent writing specific aims for Implementation Science grants. We will also explicitly describe how principles of implementation science can be applied to practical implementation efforts.
University of Washington Intensive Course in Fundamentals of IS in Global Health

Center for Health Innovation and Implementation Science
This two-and-a-half-day online course helps participants implement initiatives in healthcare. The 8-step Agile Implementation method aims to create change with a combination of teaching, coaching, exercises, and case studies. PRACCTIS is a full-time NCI-funded postdoctoral fellowship training program designed to provide the next generation of cancer prevention and control researchers with the knowledge and skill sets to eliminate gaps in translation of research to practice along the cancer continuum.
